Hollywood has immortalized some of the bandits of the Wild, Wild West. Butch Cassidy is one such character. Born April 13, 1866, in the small town of Beaver, Robert LeRoy Parker, the oldest of 13, moved to this modest, two-roomed family home in 1880. Known as “Little Roy” to his family, he was regarded as a fun big brother, who loved to read, race horses, and was kind to animals.
Four years later, at 18, he left this home, finding work as a rancher. Eventually, he befriended Mike Cassidy, a cattle rustler and took his last name so as not to disrespect his family.
This is Butch Cassidy’s childhood home from humble beginnings to infamous outlaws.
