The Cooling the Climate project is based on our research that the Amazon is the Earth’s most powerful climate stabilizer, functioning like a heart that pumps moisture and regulates temperature. If it collapses, global temperatures will rise by an additional 2.5°C within 20 years, disrupting weather patterns, collapsing food production and making vast regions uninhabitable. The current spike in global temperatures is in large part due to the record droughts in 2023 and 2024 and this is only the beginning. To prevent this, our project comes with a solution. This is a race against time—saving the Amazon means cooling the planet and securing our collective future.
Rob de Laet is a Dutch, born 1956, world traveller, serial-entrepreneur, building an international eco-tourism company with partnerships in seventeen countries, philosopher, climate activist, rewilding a damaged part of the Brazilian rainforest and working to avert the dieback of the Amazon Rainforest by strengthening the biotic pump over the area. Co-author of the book ‘Cooling the Climate - How to Revive the Biosphere and Cool the Earth Within 20 Years and now Project Lead of the Cooling the Climate project.
Rob is developing the Cooling Climate Chaos project together with Peter Bunyard and others, to reverse the climate crisis fast, working from the Lovelockian Gaia perspective to restore the Earth’s metabolisms through the restoration of the water cycles and regeneration of the biosphere.
