Today Jim Garrison will reflect on the very important domain of what constitutes human nature in light of our seeming tendency to engage in selfish and destructive behavior. Last week, Jim reflected on Karl Jung’s assertion that eastern metaphysics moderated human evil while the western tradition has exacerbated it. This gave rise to the question of why there is massive destructiveness and genocide in Asia and how we can understand the relationship between human nature and human culture. This topic is of fundamental importance in contemplating what is necessary for human flourishing.
