The way I work with the Alfabusa team’s creations is that I first read the script and I look at concept art of storyboard and then, if they’ve recorded voice lines, I listen to those and compose the music while listening to those voice lines. Sometimes I don’t have the voice lines though, so then I just go to the script for inspiration.
I never, or as good as never, compose to video, unfortunately, since that is the last step of the project.
My point is that I never really see the translation of script into video until the very end, when I’ve already done the music long ago. So, sometimes I may misinterpret how the locations will looo and stuff like that, which was what happened in this case, but I think it turned out pretty well with the scene and music anyway.
