How do medical laboratory science students gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers in healthcare?
Yudith earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from UW-Milwaukee. As a first-generation college student, she found a career that combined her passion for science with the opportunity to improve patient care behind the scenes.
Through coursework, faculty support and real-world lab experience, Yudith discovered a passion for transfusion services, where medical laboratory scientists help ensure patients receive safe and effective blood products.
At UW-Milwaukee, Yudith found professors who made challenging material approachable and advisors who helped connect her with career opportunities. A student position in transfusion services introduced her to a specialty she quickly fell in love with.
By graduation, Yudith had accepted a position with Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories, where she will work as a scientist in the transfusion service department.
