The Metro Tunnel will open later this year, with trains stopping at all 5 new stations.

The project’s 5 new stations will open to the public, and Metro Tunnel services that connect the Sunbury and Cranbourne/Pakenham lines will run in addition to the existing timetable.

A new timetable and broader network changes will be introduced early 2026.

About the Metro Tunnel Project

The Metro Tunnel will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury in the west to Cranbourne/Pakenham in the south east, with bigger and more modern trains, and 5 new stations. With testing now underway, the Metro Tunnel will open in 2025.
