What does it take to turn Sharp Practice 2 into a large-scale Napoleonic wargame? In this video I look back at our award-winning participation game recreating the Battle of the Berezina during Napoleon's disastrous 1812 Retreat from Moscow, shown at the Broadside Wargames Show. I discuss the history behind the battle, how Ray and I built the table, the rule changes we made to handle a much larger engagement, and what we learned after putting the game in front of hundreds of visitors. From adapting command and morale systems to introducing special rules for Ney, Eblé and the French stragglers, this is a behind-the-scenes look at designing big historical wargames while keeping the character of Sharp Practice intact.
