Tonsils

Tonsils are masses of tissue at the back of the throat, which act as filters, preventing germs from entering the airways and causing infections.
Tonsillitis refers to the inflammation of tonsils as a result of either a viral or a bacterial infection. This condition leads to a sore throat & difficulty in swallowing.

Food groups to consume in tonsils:

1.Liquids: Help soothe the inflammation

Foods to consume: Juices, iced water, coconut water, sherbets and shakes


2. Eat foods that are easy to swallow

Foods to consume: Rice, pudding, custard, mashed potatoes, eggs, cooked oats and boiled vegetables like carrots, beets and mushrooms

Recipes based on the above food groups:

Recipe 1: Coconut milkshake

1. Take 150ml coconut water
2. Add 50ml milk in it
3. Add 50ml coconut milk also
4. Also add 1 tbsp fresh coconut
5. Now, add 2 tsp sugar to it
6. Add this mixture to a blender
7. Blend well
8. Pour this in a glass
9. Now add 1 scoop vanilla ice cream & your coconut milkshake is
ready to serve

You can have this once in the morning



Recipe 2: Pumpkin mash potatoes

1. Boil 2 potatoes with skin in a deep pan with pinch of salt in it for
about 20 min on medium heat
2. Now check if the potatoes are cooked by piercing a fork. If the
fork pierces smoothly then the potatoes are cooked
3. Once they cool down, peel and mash them
4. Now boil 50 gm pumpkin with pinch of salt for about 10 min
5. Drain the water and mash the pumpkin
6. Take mashed potatoes and pumpkin in a large bowl
7. Add 2 tsp of butter and 1 tsp fresh cream
8. Now add pinch of cinnamon and ginger powder,
9. Also add a pinch of nutmeg powder and cloves powder
10. Now add 2 tsp maple syrup and 2 tsp chopped celery
11. Finely add salt and pepper to taste
12. Mix all thoroughly
13. Serve immediately

This yummy dish is easy to make and filling as well

Tips:

• Avoid eating very hot foods as they can aggravate the
inflammation
• Avoid hard and dry foods like crackers, biscuits, toasts, cookies
and raw vegetables as they can be difficult to swallow
• Avoid throat irritants like spicy foods, chilies, hot sauces and
peppers
