You can easily transfer a SIM card to another phone by safely removing it from your current device and inserting it into the new phone, ensuring your contacts and service stay intact.
Step 1 — Power off both phones
Before transferring the SIM card, turn off both the old and new phones. This prevents potential damage to the SIM card or the phone’s internal components and avoids network issues.
Step 2 — Locate the SIM card slot
Check the new phone for the SIM tray or slot. This is usually on the side or under the back cover, depending on the model.
Use a SIM eject tool (often included with the phone) or a small paperclip to eject the tray for phones that use removable trays. For phones with removable back covers, the SIM slot is usually inside.
Step 3 — Remove the SIM card from your old phone
If your phone has a removable tray, gently eject it using the SIM tool or paperclip and take out the SIM card.
For phones with a back cover, remove the battery (if possible) and carefully slide out the SIM.
Handle the SIM card gently and avoid touching the metal contacts.
Step 4 — Insert the SIM card into the new phone
Place the SIM card in the new phone’s slot matching the orientation and size (nano, micro, standard). Some SIMs may require an adapter if the slot size is larger.
Push the tray back into the phone until it clicks, or secure the back cover if applicable.
Step 5 — Turn on the new phone
Power on the new device.
The phone should recognize the SIM card automatically, connect to your carrier, and allow you to make calls, send messages, and use mobile data.
If prompted, enter the PIN code from your SIM card.
