You can move apps to an SD card or set the SD card as default storage to install apps and games directly, but not all apps support this, and performance may be slower than internal storage
1. Requirements and Considerations
SD Card Slot: Your device must have a working microSD slot and a compatible SD card with enough space. A Class 10 or UHS-1 SD card is recommended for best performance
App Support: Some apps, especially system apps or high-performance games, cannot be moved to external storage
Android Version: Newer Android versions (8.0 and above) support adoptable storage, which can format an SD card as internal memory for app installation
2. Moving Existing Apps to SD Card
Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
Navigate to Apps or Applications and select the app you want to move
Tap Storage or Storage & Cache. If the option is available, select Change under Storage Used.
Choose SD Card and tap Move. A progress bar will display until the app is relocated.
Note: Not all apps will allow this, and some may have partial data remaining in internal storage
3. Setting SD Card as Default Storage (Adoptable Storage)
Insert the SD card into your phone. Backup any data on it first.
Open Settings Storage, select the SD card, then choose Format as Internal / Use as internal storage
Follow the prompts to encrypt and format the SD card. Once completed, new apps and games will install there by default.
Caution: Removing the SD card after adopting it as internal storage may cause system errors or data loss.
4. USB Drives via OTG (Optional)
Some Android devices support USB OTG (On-The-Go) for external storage. While you can store media and some app data on USB drives, most standard apps cannot install directly onto a USB drive due to Android restrictions
