The Snell Knot keeps your hook perfectly aligned with your leader, which means better hook penetration and a stronger connection when a big fish eats. That's why it's one of my go-to knots for tarpon, snook, redfish, grouper, and just about any saltwater species.
Start by running your leader through the eye of the hook. Form a loop along the shank, then wrap the tag end around the shank and leader 6 to 8 times. Once you're done, pass the tag end back through the loop, wet the knot, and slowly pull everything tight.
