Hmmmmm, gotta love them early plastics. Bakelite has always been popular amongst vintage style fashionistas and some pieces are incredibly collectable and sought after. Howevere due to this there is A LOT of other bits floating around that may well be beautiful but aren't necessarily the real deal.
There are a couple of ways that allow you to test a plastic piece to see whether or not it is bakelite, no one is a sure fire test but if you put them all together you can be pretty sure in your diagnosis.
