Swarms behave very differently in Gen 2 than they do in later games. I've made a small guide on how to take advantage of the Daylight Saving Time switch for Swarm Pokémon (as well as the evolution stones in Crystal).

There are some interesting hunts you can do in your physical or virtual copies of Gen 2 games. I intend on hunting some of these myself having already found Qwilfish.

Bulbapedia incorrectly states that Swarms remain active for only 30 minutes. This is incorrect. They will remain active until midnight when you'll need to repeat the trick demonstrated in the video.

Please note that although Tauros is listed as a Swarm Pokémon, it only increases the % rate by 1% (from 4% to 5%).

Almost all of the Swarm Pokémon can be repel tricked too;

Yanma - Route 35 - Level 14 repel trick = 66% Yanma, 33% Pidgey (Gold, Silver, Crystal)

Marill - Mt Mortar - No repel trick = 40% Marill

Dunsparce - Dark Cave at Route 31 - Level 3 repel trick = 53.85% Dunsparce

* There's also a 100% repel trick for Dunsparce at level 4 but the encounter rate will be extremely slow

Snubbull - Route 38 - No repel trick = 30% Snubbull

Qwilfish - Route 32 - Fishing encounters = 65% Qwilfish with the Good Rod or 100% with the Super Rod (only 15% with the Old Rod)

Remoraid - Route 44 - Fishing encounters = 65% Qwilfish with the Good Rod or 100% with the Super Rod (only 15% with the Old Rod)
