Have you ever been disappointed with your purchase of a watermelon? You do all the tests of thumping, checking for a yellow belly spot, color, etc. Only to get home, cut it open, slice a piece to taste, and “yuck”! You just wasted money on another, mealy, overly ripened piece of fruit, with no flavor. Or, so you thought until now. All is not lost. There’s still hope for some enjoyment out of your watermelon that’s a little too ripe for its own good.
