I just returned from a weekend getaway to the beautiful California coast. I spent an afternoon at the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay where room prices range from $1000 to $4000 a night. I relaxed in their Spa lounge, got a great massage, spent time in the sauna and steam rooms and then lunched in their 4 star restaurant overlooking the Pacific. I did it all for $35 a night. How? By staying at a state campground right next door and buying a 50 minute massage for $180 which also gave me all day access to the Ritz's 16,000 square foot, world class spa as well as other hotel amenities like their outdoor lounges and fire pits. While saving money is great, the best part is that I get to return home to my own ocean-side campsite, in my own RV, light a fire in my fire pit and enjoy the sights and soothing sounds of the waves crashing on the shore. I'm definitely going to use this tip again!
