In this video, I show how to reinstall the battery in a 2014 Kia Sorento.
The vehicle had been sitting for an extended period, and the battery became completely discharged. I removed it from the Sorento, connected it to a slow trickle charger, and allowed it to charge fully before putting it back into the vehicle.
This video walks through:
Correctly positioning the battery
Reinstalling the battery hold-down
Connecting the positive terminal first
Connecting the negative terminal last
Checking that the battery is secure
Reinstalling a battery after using a trickle charger
This process is useful whether you are reinstalling a recharged battery or installing a new replacement battery.
Always turn the vehicle off, remove the key, wear eye protection, and keep metal tools from contacting both battery terminals or grounded metal at the same time.
