Don’t call a repair company for a simple ruptured drip line! In this video, I show you how to repair a broken black poly irrigation line quickly, easily, and inexpensively.
A damaged drip-irrigation tube can waste a surprising amount of water, reduce pressure throughout the system, and leave parts of your landscaping without proper irrigation. Fortunately, you can usually repair the leak yourself with a basic coupling and a few simple tools.
In this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll show you how to:
• Locate and expose the damaged irrigation line
• Shut off the water before beginning the repair
• Remove the ruptured section of poly tubing
• Install the correct irrigation repair coupling
• Reconnect and secure the damaged line
• Turn the system back on and check for leaks
This repair method is useful for punctures, cracks, splits, and accidental cuts in common black polyethylene drip-irrigation tubing. Always verify your tubing’s inside and outside diameter before purchasing fittings because irrigation tubing sizes can vary.
