SPREADSHEET ALERT! Paul walks you through exactly how Outerloop releases music on social media during a release rollout.

Have you ever tried to release your music and it landed with... crickets?!?
One of the most powerful aspects of social media is how YOU control the message. You control the content and the timing. You control whether it's a video or a graphic or text or text with a link.
Take advantage of this power! Use social media to generate excitement and anticipation in your fans so they will talk about you and, even more importantly, generate the momentum you need for a productive album cycle.
I say this over and over again. RESPECT YOUR MUSIC.
Release it the right way, with the right effort. A shoddy, unplanned release rollout is disrespecting your own art. Put the effort into getting your music into the hands of as many people as possible. Get it into their ears! Into their minds!
Don't fear the spreadsheet - USE IT to plan your release rollout RIGHT
This week's video shows you how to plan your next full-length album release rollout. But don't get scared of the Google Sheet or Excel program used here. If you're allergic to spreadsheets, use a whiteboard or posterboard (use pencil!) instead.
This is a VERY high overview of how to plan your social media posts for your release rollout. If you want to see how this is REALLY done, in incredible detail, so you can be ASSURED you are releasing your music the right way, check out Release It Right.
If you're frustrated by how to release your music, you're not doing it right
Imagine trying to sit down and figure out how to play a complicated song you just heard off Spotify. Maybe you have a talent for figuring this stuff out. I once road managed for a guy who wrote the tablature for one of the big guitar magazines. I can promise you, there aren't very many people with an ear for it like THAT guy. He was one of a kind.
For the rest of us, sitting down with the tablature is much easier. We just need to play the right notes at the right times and - bam. It ain't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot closer than what we could have done in the same amount of time without the tab.
Why not do the same with a release rollout?
If you like the video above and want to know more, we built Release It Right to be like tablature for a release rollout. Stop putting a Twitter post up here and a Facebook post there. An Instagram video on occassion and then... nothing. Just follow the steps in RiR and you'll have a killer release week. Every time.

Booking agents might be the most in-demand professionals in the music industry. Everyone wants a great one for the artists they work with. The record labels, managers, lawyers - everyone. Artists with a booking agent think they need a better one. And artists without one want to know how to get a booking agent.
This is because the booking agent can be the person who delivers the most money to the artist. The booking agents job is to solicit promoters for gigs. Great gigs can be ones with high payment, in front of lots of people, in lots of people likely to buy the bands merch, or all of the above. When the gigs are strung together, they become a tour. ![How to Write a Song That is Marketable [UPDATED FOR 2019]
It only takes one song to make an entire career - this is what you might be missing in your songwriting process that will help you reach your goals.

You KNOW How to Write a Song That is Marketable - and Noone Else Knows It Like You Do
Too many people fail by trying hard to make music like someone else. Make YOUR music and then put in the hard work to find the audience who will love YOU.
I love tablature. I love the idea I can just play the right notes at the right times and, with a little bit of technological help, I can sound JUST LIKE the musicians I admire. Its a game-changer.
But it isnt a career maker. At least not unless you want to make your living playing weddings and corporate events. THATS FINE. But its probably not your dream.
If your dream is to be admired for making original music, why not BE ORIGINAL?
There are billions of people on this planet. And you only need to be the favorite of a few of them to make a career in music. Your pursuit, as a professional musician, is finding enough people to fund your art and lifestyle. That could be one wealthy person putting you on her payroll. Or it could be a million people streaming your songs often enough to cover your bills.
Often, musicians and songwriters are asked to compromise their music in the interest of finding a larger audience. But you may just need a BETTER audience.
Put the work into finding your audience, wherever they are, or in compromising your art
Knowing how to write a song that sounds just like other songs popular in your local market is a valuable skill. It could be your ticket to success. But not compromising your songwriting for the popular market doesnt mean you will always need to be poor, or always have a real job. It just means you have to work harder to find the audience that will support you and your unique voice.
The music business is filled with talented, original musicians with cult followings. And some of musics greatest culture icons are songwriters shunned by the popular market but accepted only after surviving for years on the support of that cult following.
Trust your gut. Youll know when youre compromising too much.
But put the work into finding your audience. Make yourself available as often as possible for them to find you. Take all the media opportunities and performance opportunities you can. And then be unequivocably, uncompromisingly you. How to Write a Song That is Marketable [UPDATED FOR 2019]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/PAEbvZxD-CI/mqdefault.jpg)
