No abductor machine? No problem.
Cable hip abductions are a great alternative for targeting the glutes while building hip strength and stability. 🔥
Here are some cues to help you out:
✅ Set the cable pulley at the lowest setting and attach the cuff around your ankle.
✅ Step far enough away from the machine to keep tension on the cable throughout the full movement.
✅ Start with your working leg slightly in front of you, then bring it across your body to create a deep, controlled pre-stretch.
✅ Keep your core tight and your torso stable. Try not to lean away from the machine or use momentum.
✅ Drive your leg out by squeezing through the side of your glute.
✅ Pause and contract at the top of the rep.
✅ Slowly return your leg to the starting position while keeping tension on the cable.
✅ Choose a weight that allows you to stay controlled and maintain a full range of motion.
Think: pre-stretch, control, squeeze, repeat.
Add these to your next glute or lower-body workout when the abductor machine is taken, unavailable, or simply not part of your gym setup. 👌
