One of the most confused vowel sounds for non-native speakers of English is the letter O. O in most languages sounds like... OH! And it does in English, too... but ONly in specific cases. In fact, most of the time you'll hear it pronounced using one of 3 different vowel sounds. The first is explained in this video. And it might SHOCK you!

This series, although designed for Japanese speakers, can be helpful for anyone trying to master English pronunciation. This O sound is actually very common in most North American English dialects. At least it would open to an AW pronunciation.

This Chaf and Chet sound is one that may cause insecurity since its a new sound that doesnt exist naturally in English. Its a question of comfort and of balance. Just like most sounds in Modern Hebrew its not to be overdone, just to show you can do it, but rather we want to be able to clearly distinguish it from other sounds like Hay (basically silent) and Kaf Kuf (the harder K sound).
You dont have to push through discomfort or go too far back in your throat to pronounce this sound. In fact, it comes up in countless other languages that we hear everyday like Spanish, French, Russian, Dutch, Arabic, and even Mandarin Chinese to name just a few!
