This Chaf and Chet sound is one that may cause insecurity since its a new sound that doesnt exist naturally in English. Its a question of comfort and of balance. Just like most sounds in Modern Hebrew its not to be overdone, just to show you can do it, but rather we want to be able to clearly distinguish it from other sounds like Hay (basically silent) and Kaf Kuf (the harder K sound).
You dont have to push through discomfort or go too far back in your throat to pronounce this sound. In fact, it comes up in countless other languages that we hear everyday like Spanish, French, Russian, Dutch, Arabic, and even Mandarin Chinese to name just a few!
We invite you to comment or suggest other Hebrew difficulties you may be facing with regard to speaking and generating / maintaining a natural conversation. Its not just pronunciation but also areas of rhythm and stress and even intonation that can go a long way.
