A generic preflight inspection for a light aircraft. This video is recommended for anyone learning preflight checks for a Piper Cherokee, Warrior, Archer, Cessna 172, 182, or 152. I teach a three part preflight check which may differ from what other instructors might profess, or even what might be written in your aircraft's Pilot's Operating Handbook. I personally think that you can focus much better on the tasks at hand without carrying oil rags, paper towels, fuel samplers, and chalks around the aircraft. Take it slow, and in three phases: Electrical, Mechanical Chemical. This order will also waste less of your time if you find something that prevents you from flying immediately, as the most serious problems are discovered earlier rather than later, for instance, a faulty radio before low oil level.
