In this eighth lesson in my how to play piano for beginners series of tutorials I'm drawing together a few threads from previous lessons by looking at a new easy piano piece - the most challenging one we've tried so far. It has eighth notes/quavers in the right hand, rests, repeat marks and some interesting dynamic markings and Italian terms that are very common in piano music. Along the way, we'll find out about phrase marks, and how pianists use them, and also how to handle a ritenuto - a slowing down in the tempo (speed) of a piece of music.
This tutorial should help you reinforce many of the things you've learned about playing the piano so far, as well as give you more good practice at getting your left and right hands working together. As usual, there's an accompanying PDF download that includes the full score of the piece — you can download it using the link below.
