Marionberries are a cross between blackberries and raspberries grown only in the Pacific Northwest. June / July is harvest season - and you want to pick the ripe ones for the best flavor.
Before you head out to the you-pick farm to pick berries, be sure to watch this video and learn to pick the berries that are:
1) Black
2) Plump and soft
3) Fall off the vine easily
Marionberry vines have a lot of thorns and the berries are juicy. So plan to leave your picking spot with some scratches and purple hands!
Note that you don't find Marionberries far from Oregon because they are fragile and don't ship well. But you can find (or make) Marionberry cider or liqueur, jam or syrup.
