Looking for the truth about Rover.com house sitting service? Here's my warning. Check this review of my two bad experiences with their pet sitters. There are few bad pet sitting reviews on Rover.com, but if other clients are like us, they are afraid of retaliation from bad people that have had access to our house, know our address and patterns and know our pets. It's not a good idea to leave a bad review.
On a recent long weekend trip, we hired a Rover.com house sitter who supposedly had 10 years of experience. Things went sideways before she even showed up when she tried to cancel 2 hours before her shift would start. Then she asked for money upfront. Neighbors reported hearing loud arguments with male voices inside our house. And neighbors told us that she wasn't spending the night like we had agreed on.
Luckily our pets were OK when we came home. Our two dogs had pooped and peed all over our 100+ year old hardwood floors because she was there so seldomly. This is unheard of for our dogs. Luckily, the cats could go out their cat door.
The previous Rover sitter had a naked hot tub party and another dog in our house. We saw that on a camera (that wasn't on when the second sitter was here.) I highly recommend cameras - just let the sitter know there are cameras. Here's the one I just purchased for any future pet sitting (which will only be with people we know.) amzn.to/3BV0ajz
