In this video, we're going to learn about the plié, one of the fundamental steps in ballet that can help improve your technique and execution of more advanced moves. 👌 Don't let the fancy French name scare you - it's pronounced "plee-AY"!

To perform a plié-
1️⃣ start in first position with your heels touching and your toes turned out;
2️⃣ engage your core muscles and lift up tall through your spine;
3️⃣ bend both knees while keeping your weight evenly distributed between your feet.

Your knees should be pointing over your toes and your heels should be firmly on the ground. Imagine you're sliding down an imaginary wall and lower your body as far as you can while maintaining good form. Your back should be straight, your shoulders down, and your knees pointing over your toes. Finally, straighten your legs and return to the starting position.

There are different types of pliés, including demi-plié (half-bend) and grand plié (full bend).

The basic steps for each are the same, but the depth of the bend and the use of the plié will vary depending on the specific exercise or combination. With practice, you'll develop strength, flexibility, and control in your legs, ankles, and feet, and soon you'll be plié-ing like a pro! 🙌

The plié is a versatile step that can be modified to suit the needs of dancers at any level of training. It is used in a variety of exercises and combinations, and mastering it can help improve your overall ballet technique. So, practice your plié and remember to keep your alignment and turnout in check.

Get ready to embark on this exciting adventure and discover the incredible world of classical ballet! 💃🕺
