California plug-in solar could soon have a statewide 1,200-watt AC-output framework under SB 868, but 1,200 watts running continuously can theoretically deliver 28.8 kWh over 24 hours. In this community Q&A, I explain how battery storage can extend a compatible plug-in solar system beyond daylight hours, whether it can meaningfully offset overnight EV charging, and when a larger off-grid inverter system makes more sense.
