This is a tutorial on how to make your own pinch block and loading pin for less than $30 with very few tools. It's very simple to do and a great option if pro strength equipment is not quite in your budget yet.

The materials you will need (and the cost of each) are below:

Pinch Block:
1" x 6" x 6' board - $7.74
3/8" x 8" (any length will work, actually) - $1.21
Total: $8.95

Loading Pin:
Note: I got all galvanized pipe fittings, but black iron will work just as well and be cheaper.
1/2" Floor Flange - $6.84
1/2" x 12" Nipple - $5.26
1/2" Cap $1.92
7/16" Spring Link - $3.98
3/8" x 4" Eye Bolt with Nut - $0.85
3/8" Zinc Nylon Lock Nut - $1.18
Total: $20.03 (closer to $15 for black iron instead of galvanized)

Additionally, you will need the following tools:

Saw
Ruler
Sharpie
Wood Glue
Clamps (or something heavy)
Drill
3/8" Drill Bit
1/4" (or similar) Drill Bit for a pilot hole
Screwdriver
9/16" Wrench
Sandpaper (60 grit is good)
