Hello Darlings, I'm so sorry for the late video! Thank you all for your patience and kind words during the power outage! 😊 I hope you enjoy this slightly late Halloween special of Dining Through The Decades! As always, I hope you enjoy the video and I look forward to seeing you next weekend for the last and final episode of the cooking show for season 2!
Lots of love,
Sage xx
Here is the recipe for the Pumpkin Pie:
WWII Pumpkin Pie
From the 1944 Cookbook 'Recipes for Good Eating'
worldturndupsidedown.com/2019/10/world-war-ii-pumpkin-pie-recipe.html
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 1/2 cups Pumpkin Puree (canned or homemade)
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups hot milk
Pie crust
Method:
Preheat your oven to 425 F/218 C
Line your 9 inch pie pan with a crust.
In a mixing bowl, mix sugar, spices, salt and pumpkin.
Beat the eggs and then add them into the mix. Then stir in the hot milk.
Pour the mixture into your pie crust. Bake for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350 F/176 C and bake for 30 minutes or until done in the middle.
Let cool in the open oven for 15 minutes, then on the counter for 4 hours.
Drizzle with chopped nuts and honey before serving.
I added a Jack-o'-lantern pastry face to my pie to make it extra spooky for Halloween! ( I placed the cut-out pastry onto a baking sheet and put in the oven until golden. You can brush the pastry with egg or butter to help it golden).
