I spent 30 years convinced that New York was the only place a creative career could happen. I wouldn't even take a meeting in another city. Then I moved to a house in Phoenix where I knew no one — and that's where I wrote my books, started my school, made my videos, and became the real me. Turns out the hinterlands had something Manhattan couldn't give me: room.
This video is about why geography is no longer destiny for creative people. If you've been telling yourself you can't build an audience or a career from where you are, I'd like to challenge that assumption.
