Bottle duping over "missile-teigneux" places a bottle on your deku stick slot. If you had not gotten deku sticks before doing this, you will not be able to hold any deku sticks.
This is because you obtain the Deku stick capacity of 10 when you first get deku sticks on your item slot. Having a bottle there when you first get deku sticks makes you not receive this item capacity. The only way to be able to hold any would be to buy a stick (to put one back in inventory), then get a larger upgrade.
In order to equip item 255 (known as "missile teigneux" on pal), you need to not have obtained deku sticks yet, then enter an area with a bottle equipped, use the bottled item, then pause. The cursor should be on the blank deku stick slot.
