Hi everyone, I’m Christan Long!
I am an adventure traveler who grew up as a part of The Long Family of Gorge River. We are the most isolated family in New Zealand. We live 2 days walk from the nearest road on the South Island West Coast, between Haast and Milford Sound.

First of all I’ve got to say I’m not an expert in photography. However, I do spend a lot of time doing photography and I’ve spent a lot of time out there taking time-lapses of Northern lights. So I thought I would share with you my experiences.
We will go through three examples of timelapses I have shot this week.
They occur near the Arctic and Antarctic circles, so first head to the Arctic or Antarctica!
Always use manual focus!
I use an Iso of 2000
Shutter speed between 3 to 8 seconds
Get used to your camera, you can practise on stars first! Once the Northern lights start you want to have it all ready to go...
