If you are a heavy bleeder and you need to know how to make / sew a cloth gusher pad, this is the video sewing tutorial for you.
Reusable cloth menstrual pads are eco-friendly and create less environmental waste. Making your own washable menstrual pads from bamboo means you know exactly what fabrics are in the pad. With a variable core weights, my gusher pads pattern can also be used as light to heavy bladder leakage pads, post partum pads and overnight pads.

ABOUT THE FABRICS NEEDED
PUL (Polyurethane Lamination waterproof fabric) - Sorry i called it PU in the video but it's PUL that you need. Ripstop nylon is NOT suitable. PUL should be very thin and very soft and shiny on one side, matte on the other. It does not make any sound when crinkled.
Bamboo French Terry comes in varying thicknesses called gsm. In the video I talked about layers, but please use the gsm suggestions below as a guide instead.
1 Layer 250gsm - Light bladder leakage & regular gusher
1 Layer 340gsm - Heavy gusher / overnight pad
1 Layer 400gsm - Super heavy gusher & post partum
If you can only find the thinner 200-250gsm, you can use more layers up to make it up to 800gsm max. NEVER exceed 800gsm as the fabric will be too thick to dry correctly and can cause mold.
Everyone's flow is different. Bamboo French Terry holds a lot more liquid than you might think, so don’t be tempted to start with 800gsm if you have a heavy flow. Try making a 400gsm first and see how you go.
