My sewing machine is a Brother Innovis 900D, it jammed very hard and i was unable to get it unstuck using the usual method where you rock the wheel back and forth to release the jam. This was something much deeper. The needle would not move more than 1mm.
So i took the bottom plates off and spent over an hour cleaning out all the dust and gunk. I used a fine paint brush and vacuum cleaner as well as an air can as my last resort. And this completely fixed my stuck machine! So glad i didn't have to pay for a repair. I hope this helps your sewing machine jam.
