My son is fascinated with tools and talks about daddy's chainsaw a lot, so I decided to make him one. He loves playing with it :)
I simply sketched a rough chainsaw design on to a piece of reclaimed wood and shaped it to resemble a recognisable tool.
I made the pull / started cord by drilling a hole in the side block and threading a rubber / elastic band through it. I used a small screw to act as a pin for the end of the rubber band. I used the same method for the pull handle.
I used the bandsaw and belt sander to make it, but it could easily be made using hand tools and would make a great project for a beginning woodworker.
I like the idea of making my own Tools, especially if it is a Tool that is not easily found or readily available. Handmade Tools give great satisfaction and for me it is fun knowing that I created something to help me better improve my woodworking experience.
