Sophie Gamand is an award-winning artist and animal rescue advocate based in Los Angeles. Since 2010, Sophie’s work has been focused on dogs.
Her most known photographic projects are Wet Dog (a series of miserable dogs at bath time) and Pit Bull Flower Power (a series of adoptable shelter pit bulls wearing flower crowns). Both were published as books and have gained Sophie international recognition. They are currently being exhibited at the prestigious museum Fotografiska in Stockholm.
Most of Sophie’s work is dedicated to bettering the lives of at-risk dogs (shelter dogs, chained dogs, strays...), while challenging our perception of the human/dog bond. Sophie has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for dog rescues around the world, and her photography has helped thousands of homeless dogs on their way home.
Her upcoming new photo series is dedicated to survivors of the Korean dog meat trade and will be used as a campaign to promote adoption in South Korea.
