Be honest - have you actually given your curls a fair shot?
Before you decide they “aren’t working,” you need to know if you’ve tested them properly. This is the framework I use with my clients.
If you’re still going back to straightening or constantly switching routines, you’re resetting the process every time. You can’t evaluate results without consistency.
If your hair is still recovering from heat or chemical damage, it won’t show its full pattern yet. Limp ends and weak curls during recovery are normal. That’s healing — not failure.
You have to style for the hair you actually have, not the hair you wish you had. Technique can enhance your pattern, but it can’t create one. Doing more won’t magically make it curlier. It will just burn you out.
Most spiraling happens between wash days. One bad refresh and you rewash. One imperfect result and you change everything. Trusting the process means not scrapping your routine every time it looks messy. Use simple fixes. Hide it loosely. Let it stabilize.
And once all of that is in place, you still have to give it time. Think months, not weeks — especially for loose waves.
If those pieces aren’t in place yet, you’re not forcing your curls. You just haven’t tested them properly.
