What does it mean to be "good" at Genshin Impact?
Even though it's a single-player game, and character strength is heavily dependent on the lottery we call "artifacts", skill still plays a large role in Genshin's combat. Player skill can be important in periods early on in the game, notably whenever a World Level increase makes the difficulty skyrocket, and in the Spiral Abyss skill can make the difference between frustration and triumph.
When people struggle, you'll often see others say "it's a skill issue", but often it's unclear to the people struggling what that actually means. Sometimes, I’m not convinced that the people saying that know themselves.
But what does skill even mean? How important is it really? And, more importantly, what can we do to improve it?
