Even as I fell for Snezhnaya's designs, I understood people were going to be disappointed.

I loved almost everything I saw in Snezhnaya’s Transcendence trailer, but even as I fell for the new character designs, I already understood why a lot of people were going to be disappointed.
It would be easy to dismiss that disappointment as “some people will always complain”, but despite being firmly on the “I love this” side of the equation, in this case I think they have a valid point.
It’s not about any one character, or even an entire nation, and I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss it as people who just don’t like the game any more. There’s something deeper going on, a set of expectations built up on a subconscious level over the course of several years.
Once you start to look at the decisions and directions Hoyo took, both sides of the argument begin to make more sense.
