How to Fix AirPods That Keep Disconnecting
If your AirPods keep disconnecting while listening to music, watching videos, making phone calls, or using apps, the problem is usually caused by Bluetooth interference, software glitches, low battery, or incorrect settings. Try these fixes in order.
1. Charge Your AirPods
Place both AirPods into the charging case.
Charge the case and AirPods for at least 30 minutes.
Make sure both AirPods are charging properly.

Low battery can cause random disconnects.

2. Turn Bluetooth Off and Back On
Open Settings.
Tap Bluetooth.
Turn Bluetooth Off.
Wait about 10 seconds.
Turn Bluetooth back On.
Reconnect your AirPods.
3. Forget and Reconnect Your AirPods
Open Settings.
Tap Bluetooth.
Tap the i next to your AirPods.
Tap Forget This Device.
Confirm.
Pair your AirPods again.
4. Restart Your Device

Restart your iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Mac, or Windows PC, then reconnect your AirPods.

5. Move Closer to Your Device

Bluetooth works best when your device is nearby.

Avoid:

Walking too far away.
Thick walls.
Metal objects between you and your device.
6. Reduce Wireless Interference

Bluetooth can be interrupted by:

Wi-Fi routers
Microwaves
Wireless speakers
Other Bluetooth devices

Move away from these devices if possible and test again.

7. Turn Off Automatic Ear Detection (Test)
Open Settings.
Tap Bluetooth.
Tap the i next to your AirPods.
Turn Automatic Ear Detection off.
Listen for several minutes to see if the disconnects stop.
8. Reset Your AirPods
Place both AirPods in the charging case.
Close the lid for 30 seconds.
Open the lid.
Hold the button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds.
Wait for the light to flash amber, then white.
Pair them again.
9. Update Your Device

Install the latest software update on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android phone, or Windows PC, as Bluetooth improvements are often included in system updates.

If Your AirPods Still Disconnect

If the problem continues after trying these fixes, the issue may be caused by:

A failing AirPod battery
A faulty charging case
Bluetooth hardware problems on your device
Internal AirPods hardware failure

Testing your AirPods with another phone or computer can help determine whether the problem is with the AirPods or the original device. #airpodspro
