If your Android hotspot is not showing up, the best approach is to systematically check your mobile data, hotspot settings, frequency band, and connectivity, ensuring your device is updated and not in battery-saving mode.
Step 1 — Check Your Mobile Data and Network
Ensure that your cellular data is active and you have a strong signal (LTE or 5G). Open a browser or an app that requires internet to confirm connectivity
If there’s no connectivity, move to a location with a better signal or toggle Airplane mode on and off to refresh the network
Step 2 — Enable Mobile Hotspot Properly
Go to Settings Network & internet (or Connections).
Tap Hotspot & tethering / Mobile hotspot.
Toggle Mobile hotspot on.
Confirm the hotspot name (SSID) and password are correctly set; avoid special characters or very long names
Step 3 — Adjust Hotspot Frequency Band
Many older devices cannot connect to a 5 GHz hotspot. Switch your hotspot to 2.4 GHz for better compatibility:
Settings Hotspot & tethering Wi-Fi hotspot Advanced / AP Band 2.4 GHz
Step 4 — Device Proximity and Interference
Stay within 15–30 feet of your hotspot device.
Place your phone in a clear, elevated spot and avoid interference from microwaves, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, or nearby routers
