This is an easy DIY method to fix a hula hoop if it has developed a peak/gap over time!

HDPE, or white inserts, are the most common ones to create a peak. The pressure from the outer hoop can bend the plastic overtime. To reverse this, all you need to do is heat up the insert tubing. This can be done with very hot water for one minute. Once heated, the structure of the tubing it reverts back to its original straight self. Once the insert is straight, the hoop has a flush connection once again! (the video has a colored HDPE insert)
When purchasing or making a hoop, you can avoid having a peak connection when using polycarbonate, and polypro inserts. Polycarbonate connections, unfortunately have very straight structures, so it can actually create a straight spot on the curve of your hoop. Polypro has the rigidity to withstand peaks and has a slight curve so it can create a gap free connection. It also has a slight curve for a nice arc. But if you leave the hoop in the car, the pressure from the outside tubing can unfortunately also peak pokypro as well.
