If you love hiking Peralta Canyon, there are two trails on either side of the canyon that you may want to explore: Robbers Roost and the Cave Trail. They are both awesome trails, with beautiful views of the canyon and very little traffic. However, they do require a sense of adventure as they are a bit off the beaten path.
The unmarked Robbers Roost trail is located on the western ridge of the canyon. The trail does not exist on any of the common maps, including the maps at the Peralta Trail head. Evidently, people get lost all the time searching for Robber's Roost, sometimes ending in a helicopter rescue for those who get seriously lost! The purpose of this video is to help hikers navigate the unmapped trail to ensure fellow explorers do not get lost looking for Robber's Roost.
On the way back, rather than heading back down Peralta Canyon, we cross over to the east side of the canyon to the more rugged Cave Trail, which takes you to the Geronimo Cave before connecting with the Bluff Springs trail on the way back to the Peralta TH.

Peralta Trail to Freemont Saddle = 2.4 miles from parking lot
Freemont Saddle to Robbers Roost = .9 miles
Freemont Saddle - Cave Trail - Bluff Springs = 5.9
Total round trip = 10. 1 miles (moderate terrain)
