You can reset your Android phone to factory settings and keep your data safe by first backing up all important information to your Google account or other storage and then restoring it after the reset
Step 1 — Prepare Your Phone and Backup
Charge Your Phone: Make sure your phone battery is at least 70% or plug it in to avoid interruptions during the reset
Connect to Wi-Fi: Backing up and restoring data over Wi-Fi is faster and more secure than using mobile data
Verify Account Credentials: Know your Google account username and password, as you'll need it to restore backups and bypass Factory Reset Protection (FRP) after the reset
Backup Your Data:
Open Settings → Google → Backup and tap Back Up Now.
Confirm that Contacts, Messages, App Data, Photos, and Settings are included.
For photos and videos, use Google Photos or offline transfers to an SD card or computer.
For apps like WhatsApp or authenticator apps, follow their in-app backup procedures
Optional — Decrypt SD Card: If you use an encrypted SD card, decrypt it first to ensure data can be accessed after the reset
