In this video I will show you how to engrave golf balls, golf tees, and golf pencils with the xTool F1 and F1 ULTRA. The same concept applies if you are using other xTool machines, however, with the F1 and F1 ULTRA you can easily and conveniently switch between the blue and IR lasers for maximum flexibility.

We will be using the following fixtures to hold the golf balls, tees, and pencils while we are engraving them:

These fixtures can be made to work with the xTool F1 Ultra in both single fixture and 2x2 grid mode with the following adapter:

These fixtures are also easily compatible with various other xTool machines such as the D1, S1, and P2S by simply placing them on the honeycomb bed and locating them with the hold down magnets. Then you can reference the edges of the fixtures using your laser cross hairs to locate them.
Surprisingly there is very little information online about engraving golf balls and more surprising - there are many vendors who will sell you fixtures for the golf balls but do not tell you that golf balls are almost impossible to engrave. The white plastic shell does not easily mark with blue, IR, or even CO2 lasers and you will get a very faint marking at best.
However, we can use this to our advantage! Instead of directly marking the balls we can apply a coating such as permanent marker or enamel spray paint and then burn off the coating. Because the white plastic ball does not mark easily, it is not sensitive to discoloration from the removal of the coating and the white surface remains. Now we can achieve a very nice design against the white ball for limitless possibilities.
Even more interesting - a black permanent marker responds differently to the blue and IR laser. The blue laser and effectively remove all of the marker - but the IR laser can leave behind certain colors that make up the black marker ink. In the video you will see that we can achieve a purple color that does not smudge or smear unlike the cheap stamps that you can buy for golf balls.
As for the tees and pencils, most are made of wood and can be found painted or uncoated. These are easily processed with typical blue laser settings you can find in the xTool Material EasySet Library for other varieties of wood.
