Ultimate Handyman | How to drill out a grub screw @ultimatehandyman | Uploaded June 2022 | Updated October 2024, 6 days ago.
Grub screws can be impossible to remove and often the only way to get them out is to drill out the grub screw. Most grub screws are made from either a hard grade steel, or sometimes stainless steel. Drilling out these grub screws can be very challenging, and is often impossible using standard HSS drill bits. In this video I drill out a grub screw using Cobalt drill bits, which are much harder than traditional HSS drill bits. Luckily this time I could do this on the bench, but normally I have to drill these out in situ, which obviously makes the job much more difficult.
