Hello, everyone today we will learn how to draft / cutting of self collar kurti. It is very amazing and yet very simple design of a kurti that looks very awesome.
Let's go to the measurement first:
Shoulder 15 inch
Armhole length 7.5 inch
Armhole round 18 inch
Upper chest 40 inch
Full Burst 41 inch
Plate length 11 inch
Waist length 15 inch
Waist round 36 inch
Full length of kurti 44 inch
Step by Step cutting and drafting of self-collar Kurti:
We will start with markings on the cloth starting from the full length of this suit with added 4 inches for suit so total length comes out 48 inches we will start marking with shoulder side then waist length.
Next we will put shoulder length i.e. 15 inch and its half is 7.5 inch and we add 0.5 inch of sim allowance that would b 8 inch.
Arm hole length is 7.5 inch and we will join both lines.
Full burst is 11 inch and half inch is added for stitching so 11.5 inch.
Waist length is 15 inch and we will add half inch for stitching so 15.5 inch
As it is a A-line kurti so hip length and hip round measurement is not required.
We will begin the self-collar cutting later, we will begin with normal kurti cutting. Upper chest is 40 inch we will take 1/4th that would become 10 inch and full burst is 41 inch its 1/4th would be 10.25 inch. Waist round is 36 inch and 1/4th would be 9 inch. We will take care for complete flare in this suit. We will take a margin of 1.5 inch and draw the complete points from shoulder to upper chest to full burst to waist round. Then with the help of the French curve we will provide the round for the arm length i.e. 8 inch (7.5 + 0.5 inch). For front armhole we will add 0.25 inch more to the armhole section.
As it is a collar kurti we will take 1 inch extra. We will join neck drop and shoulder. For flare take maximum of your cloth. For flare to be awesome we will take it as round taking a curve of 3 inch.
Lets get to self-collar kurti cutting part. From shoulder point add 1.25 inch towards neck broad. And will join both points adding 1 inch for stitching.
Neck deep ready length will be 8 inch. And for creating V-neck shape design we will add another 3 inch for stitching at later part.
Cloth : 2.5 mtr cotton fabric. 4 fold the complete cloth and keep open part away from yourself fro drafting and cutting.
Note: during drafting and cutting of self collar kurti you don’t need to cut and draft front and back of the suit separately. It can be done together as there is no difference in measurement as like normal suit that carries 1.5 inch extra length.
Start with back hole arm cutting then, complete suit draft then front arm hole should be done. The series should always be followed to avoid any problem at later stage.
Front has to be divided in 2 parts so be very cautious and follow the method as displayed in video.
Now we will begin draft cross piping for A-line suit piping by cutting diagonal strips from the cloth and putting it across the complete A-line front suit to get the complete idea of the length taking into consideration the collar section also.
So, following the complete method now you should be having a ready to stich A-line kurti lying n front of you.
