Hello friends “Welcome to Stitch and Swear”
We will Learn in this lesson about latest sleeve design that can be used in top, kurti, Maxi dress, Gown or any other dress. I try to put maximum information in the video so that we can learn in an amazing way.
First, we will begin with paper cutting of sleeve of Kurti.
Sleeve design paper cutting has been discussed in earlier videos. If you haven’t seen them yet please visit the mentioned link: youtu.be/d76h2oNY4RI from 22 min onwards. It’s a blouse cutting video but sleeve cutting method remains the same.
Arm hole of Kurti and Arms should match. It is applicable even for Blouse, top and any other upper body measured dress.
Measurement is as follows:
Length 7.5 inches
Width 7.5 inches in cross.
Margins to be additional 1.5 inches both sides.
Paper is double fold. Take centre of measurement i.e. half of 7.5 inches equal to 3.75 inches. After leaving 1.5 inches margin, make curve in 7.5 inches length. Length of arms hole and kurti arms hole should be equal. Kurti and arms cutting should match in measurement.
Here are the tips of cutting of cloth for arms.
- Go to paper cutting mark a line in centre.
- Make two marks at 2 inches towards left and right of centre line at both sides i.e. arms hole and kurti hole side.
- Join marked points leaving no margin at side of arm hole.
- Cut the paper on lines and Keep the gap of 1.25 or 1.5 inches as per choice in cutting.
- Fix the paper cutting with pin and mark the cloth with chalk. No margin at arm hole side but kurti side leave ½ inch margin
- Mark centre at the arm side cloth.
Double layer one kurti cloth and another black or other matching colour. Mark leaving two inches from lower side and draw curved line and mark on black cloth by folding the kurti cloth and draw curve line. Cut the cloth then stich. Always match the centre mark of both the cloths. If machine has Pico system do it or make a fold stitch for Kurti sleeve. Double layer to be made either with the same cloth or other matching cloth.
This sleeve can be used in any from of upper body measured clothing.
