Crafting made simple - knitting and crochet kits for beginners
OVERVIEW
Moss stitch, or seed stitch, is a beautifully textured stitch pattern and is created by alternating knit and purl stitches in the same row, then knitting the opposite stitch in the next row. In this video we will show you how to create moss stitch. This stitch is used in the Mateusz Snood Knitting Kit and the Fur Pompom Hat Knitting Kit.
STEP-BY-STEP
This pattern requires you to knit one purl one continuously on the same row.
TIP: Remember to bring your working yarn backwards for knit stitch and forwards for purl stitch or else you’ll tangle your work.
1) To start, knit three stitches.
2) Bring the yarn forward and purl one stitch.
3) Bring the yarn backwards and knit one stitch.
4) Bring the yarn forward and purl one stitch.
5) Continue to knit one, purl one by repeating steps 3-4 until you have finished the row.
If you have an odd number of cast on stitches, simply repeat these steps row-by-row to form the pattern. If you have an even number of cast on stitches, follow the sequence of stitches so that if the stitch below looks like a ‘V’, you need to purl one stitch. If the stitch below looks like a bar, you need to knit one stitch.
