Abbreviation: tr
These instructions are given in UK terminology. 'Treble crochet (tr)' is the same stitch as the American 'double crochet (dc)'.
Treble crochet is twice the size of the double crochet, and worked in a similar way. In this video we will show you how to create a treble crochet. This stitch is used in the Skye Tassel Throw Crochet Kit.
STEP-BY-STEP
1) First, make a foundation chain to your required length. Then afterwards make two chains extra.
2) For example, here is a chain of 10 and we need to add 2 more.
3) Find the 4th chain from the hook.
4) Make a yarn over and then insert your hook into the 4th chain.
5) Yarn over again and then pull through the loop. There should be 3 loops on your hook.
6) Yarn over again and pull through the first 2 loops.
7) Yarn over again and pull through the remaining loops.
8) You will have one loop left on your hook and you have completed the stitch.
9) Continue making the treble crochet by repeating these steps.
10) Once you have finished your first row double check by counting the ‘V’s’.
11) To start a new row in double crochet, turn your work around (like you would turn a page of a book).
12) Add 3 extra chains, this is your turning chain.
13) Identify the second stitch of the row (not your turning chain), also known as the 5th “V” from the hook.
14) Yarn over then insert your hook into the entire ‘V’ of the second stitch. Repeat steps 5 – 8.
And that’s how you treble crochet (tr)!
